Lantos was appointed to provide package of specialist project management, portfolio assurance and Legacy IT/Asset Management consultancy to GDS leading on the Cabinet Office cross-functional Legacy IT programme to deliver Legacy IT remediation services and support. Our primary outcome was to identify, design and deliver support packages and guidance to help departments reduce their levels of legacy IT spending, technical debt and associated cyber risks.
As one of our key responsibilities, we led on implementing the Cabinet Office Digital and Technology Spend Controls Pipeline process into 4 major government departments (Defra, Cabinet Office, Home Office and HMRC). This resulted in successfully establishing the Pipeline process in two departments (Defra and HMRC) and delivering key guidance to improve the existing Pipeline process in Cabinet Office.
Lantos led on played a leading role to develop a methodology and evaluation approach to support the GDS and HMT review and assurance for the government Comprehensive Spending Round (CSR2020) across UK government departments related to their Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) department bid submissions. We designed and provided a data and evaluation model to capture and review CSR2020 DDaT bid submission data to permit collaboration between Cabinet Office and HMT evaluation teams.
Leveraging this data, our team undertook a detailed review and evaluation to produce a legacy IT Thematic Analysis for Cabinet Office and sharing insights with HMT. Using the knowledge gained from the CSR2020 bids combined with Case Study engagement and contributions from departments, we developed a library of central guidance in areas of Spend Controls Pipeline, legacy IT materials and Asset Discovery and Management.
Notably, the Cabinet Office CSR2020 DDaT assurance process and all GSG/GDS teams were nominated for a “Collaboration Award” as part of the 2020 Civil Service Awards.
